BÖHLER K600 – 1.2767

PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS :

A Nickel Chromium Molybdenum steel, vacuum hardenable to 53-57 HRc. Can also be supplied in the ESR Condition.

BÖHLER K110 - 1.2379

PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS :

A high Carbon Chromium Vandadium steel of the D2 type for small inserts requiring high wear resistance. Vacuum-Hardenable to 63-65 HRc.

BÖHLER K945 - 1.1730

PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS :

A Carbon based tool steel used for bolsters, usually supplied in the annealed condition. Eashily machinability.

BÖHLER KM201 - ECOPLUS

 A Chromium Molydenum steel with low sulphur, offering good polishability and photo etching properties. Supplied heat treated to 950-1100 N/mm² (˜ 31HRc)

A Chromium Molydenum steel re-sulphurised for easier machinability : suitable for bolsters or for moulding faces not requiring polishing. Supplied heat treated to 1000-1100 N/mm² (˜33 HRc)

BÖHLER M300 – 1.2316

PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS :

A martensitic stainless steel with molybdenum and increased chromium content giving higher corrosion resistance. Supplied pre-heat treated to 950-1050 N/mm² (˜31 HRc) to give optimum wear resistance and machinability. Takes an excellent polish.

BÖHLER M310, M315, M333 – 1.2083

PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS :

A readily machinable ESR martensitic chromium stainless steel (AISI 420). Through-hardening in vacuum to 55-57 HRc. Gives excellent polishing and wear resistance.

BÖHLER M340 – ISOPLAST

PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS :

An excellent corrosion resistant performance plastic mould steel with excellent polishability and good hardenability. Excellent high wear resistance, very homogenous and fine carbide structure.

BÖHLER M390

PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS :

An excellent corrosion resistance Martensitic ISOMATRIX PM Chromium Stainless Steel produced by the powder metallurgical process. Gives homogeneous structure with a high volume of small, finely dispersed chromium and vanadium carbides. Hardenable in vacuum to give 60-62 HRc.

ESR



In Electro Slag Remelting the ingot is built up in a water cooled mould by melting a consumable electrode immersed in a superheated process slag. An electrical current flowing through the liquid slag, which provides the electrical resistance, generates the heat. As the slag temperature rises above the liquids temperature of the steel, the tip of the electrode melts. The reaction between slag and steel droplets results in a significant reduction in sulphur and non-metallic inclusions. The directional solidification of the ingot from bottom to top results in an ingot with a high homogeneity and freedom from macro - segregations. This gives uniform mechanical properties in the longitudinal and transverse directions after hot working. By utilizing homogenisation annealing of ingots, a high ingot break down and special heat treatment methods for structure refinement and strategy is fulfilled in optimising steel properties for an extended tool life.

Powder Metallurgy



High Alloy Steels will gain improved properties by increasing the solidification rate. This gives a fine microstructure and small, well-distributed carbides in the matrix.

During Powder Metallurgy (PM), the melt stream is atomised by nitrogen gas into small droplets with an average size of 50-100 µm. The powder is filled into capsules directly in order to avoid contamination. With hot isostatic pressing (HIP), the powder is consolidated to 100% density.

By using a special refining sequence, the cleanliness of the molten steel is improved prior to atomisation. This results in improved mechanical properties and an extremely low non-metallic inclusion level (SuperClean™).

The HIP'ed PM capsules are hot forged and rolled to smaller bar sizes followed by heat treatment and machining.

PM steels are used in very demanding applications within cold work, plastic and cutting tools.
