The heterogeneity of chemical composition and structure, particularly of carbide particle size and distribution between the inner and outer zones and between bottom and top ends, is one of the inherent problems in production of high speed steels and tools steels, as well as plastic mould steel, that cannot be produced by conventional melting methods.

GENERAL

S290 MICROCLEAN is produced by powder-metallurgy methods. Segregation-free and homogeneous metal powders of highest purity and adequate granulation are processed to homogeneous and segregation-free high speed steels of virtually isotropic properties in a diffusion process taking place at high pressures and temperatures.

APPLICATIONS

Heavy-duty machining tools. Not only for the machining of steels but also for non-ferrous metals such as nickel-base and titanium alloys. Tools used under extreme compressive strengths e.g. precision blanking tools for high-strength materials.

PROPERTIES
