Stainless Steel

Represent a group of steels which are resistant to the attack of chemically aggressive media. Their chromium content, which in general exceeds 12%, causes a passive layer to form on the surface of parts, affording for oxidising agents.

Other alloying elements contained in stainless steels improve their resistance to corrosion in the presence of certain aggressive agents, and also impart to them specific mechanical and physical properties required by a wide variety of applications.

Austenitic steel with good mechanical properties such as resistance to hot gases (except sulphurous gases), salt and metal melts. High hot strength and toughness. Max. operating temperature in air up to 1150°C, good cold forming properties.
