Heat Resisting Steels

Combine the best mechanical properties in short and long-time exposure with superior resistance to the reaction of hot gases, combustion products, molten salts and metals at temperatures above 550 º C. Their resistance, however, largely depends on the type of attack involved and cannot be exactly defined with values obtained by a single testing method.

At temperatures above 550 º C, a reaction between steel surface and gaseous atmosphere occurs, forming a thin oxide layer.

The chemistry of heat and scale resisting steels is such that the scale layer formed retards diffusion of alloying elements, thus inhabiting further oxidation.

PROPERTIES AND APPLICATIONS :

Austenitic steel with good mechanical properties such as resistance to hot gases (except sulphurous gases), salt and metal melts. High hot strength and toughness. Max. operating temperature in air up to 1150°C, good cold forming properties.
Components for heat treatment plants, furnaces and steam boilers, glass china, enamelware, cement industries, engineering and petrochemical industries.
